DIVINE UNFAIRNESS!
Look around you: innocent children born with debilitating, incurable disabilities; glaring inequalities caused by the accident of #birth into a gender, community, nation, region, even an unfavourable time; recurring natural disasters heavily stacked against the already impoverished.
Unfairness and inequality are so wide-spread that religions had to coin justification for them: karma, imtihan… Consider the hugely disproportionate and patently unfair rewards and punishments evolved over time.
In Nature everything is either being devoured or is devouring something. God is only apparent by absence of Godliness!
IS HINDU POPULATION IN PAKISTAN FALLING EVEN NOW?
Turns out, after a massive exodus / conversion in the aftermath of the partition, the Hindu population in Pakistan, in percentage terms, is actually growing in the last few decades, even if notionally.
Their number doesn't seem significantly disproportionate to that of the Muslims in Indian Punjab.
Here is a perceptive analysis that makes sense to me. Does it to you?
CAUSES OF MUSLIM TERRORISM
Muslim brethren, listen to Javed Ahmed Ghamidi very, very carefully. I do not always agree with this Aalim, either. But he is amongst those few who speak the most sensibly - and with the authority of religion.
Very Important video in understanding the concept of Islamic State and how our major scholars view it. In fact it points to wrong ideology that is propagated...
INCOME-LESS BLESSING
Ever since I took a plunge into social service, full time, I do not draw a salary. Accordingly I don't earn anything. Therefore, I don't pay an Income tax. What a blessing: I don't have to worry about the floor and the ceilings, and the slabs! Time was when, around Feb and Mar, we used to borrow, in order to 'save', in order to qualify for deductions! Ouch, what a mess it was!
Factually, finance and economics have never been my forte. My having led a small bank or two, was more a result of my O&M rather than my F&E!
Incidentally, today's supposedly Transformational Budget appears a well-crafted political strategy for the forthcoming state elections. Sadly, though, this political patronage seems to have been financed by across-the-board reductions in social spending. And whether the farmer's acche din will truly arrive in five years remains to be seen!
Can I say? Any no. of times, for I love India and am not religious. But I oppose anyone forcing this on someone who unequivocally claims allegiance to India but has reservations against specific Sanskrit words on religious grounds.
Can #Pakistan or #Bangladesh ask their #Hindu citizens to prove their patriotism, in the metaphor used by their majority community, by denouncing idol-worship or hailing beef eating? Certainly not.
When the current din on nationalism ebbs the larger questions #Kanhaiya Kumar has raised may rekindle and agitate millions.
With his lovable rustic style, apparent transparency, touching simplicity and straight-forwardness Kanhaiya has become a formidable adversary to right wing politics.
If I were a well-wisher of Narendra Modi I would advise him to be on the right side of this young man.
FOR THE #TABLA LOVERS
FOR THE ISLAMIC FANATICS DENOUNCING MUSIC
FOR THE ADORERS OF INDIA's SYNCRETIC CULTURE
FOR THE MUSLIM HATERS
FOR THE ISLAMIC FANATICS DENOUNCING MUSIC
FOR THE ADORERS OF INDIA's SYNCRETIC CULTURE
FOR THE MUSLIM HATERS
For those keen to learn about the evolution of tabla in Indian classical music in particular and the cycles of status of musicians in general I urge watching a video - rather longish - available on YouTube entitled
"#Zakir Talks, Zakir Plays
under UC #Berkley Regents Lecture series
Ustad Zakir Hussain in conversation with Janaki Bakhle"

I recommend this to the young Bollywood numbers gang who simply are unable to value the rich musical heritage we have in Indian classic music
Particularly I recommend this to both, the Islamic fanatics denouncing music, and those of the Hindutva who undermine the great Muslim contribution to Indian music.
Watch and listen earnestly and feel humbled and proud.. and learn to value what is so unique about our syncretic culture, that is now seriously threatened.
CELEBRATING SUCCESS
Bewildered by the inundating adulation from fellow Indians on conferment of the Nobel Prize on Gitanjali, Rabindranath #Tagore felt frustrated and wrote to his friend something like this:
This insincere praise bothers me. These people are not praising me. They never bothered to read me thus far. Now they are praising the praise, celebrating the success.
