Yours sincerely

M Hasan Jowher

Mr. Jowher (b.1953) is a concerned citizen and social activist by choice and a banker, teacher and manager by training.

As a qualified and trained banker, he worked his way up from a junior management position to that of the CEO of a small bank. Keenly interested in scientific advances and use of modern technology, Mr. Jowher was instrumental in computerizing the operations of several banks and institutions.  The Indian Banks’ Association (Gujarat) elected him as its Hon. Secretary. As the Regional Secretary of the Indian Institute of Public Administration, he worked to sensitize administrators of Gujarat to people's grievances. For a living he founded and successfully ran a management and IT consulting company that helped restructure banks and improve the bottom-lines of SMEs for nearly a decade.

A popular public speaker and occasional writer, Mr. Jowher has also been a guest faculty at the IIM Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) and several banking and other management schools.

Combining social service with a technology vision, Mr. Jowher founded and was elected the Chairman of the Gujarat Internet Users’ Group (http://www.giug.org.in). He was also the Coordinator of IEEE’s Special Interest Group in Management & Information Technology  (SIG-MIT), while Gujarat Internet Users Group appointed him its Chair

A concerned social activist, in his spare time, he has been regularly contributing to various national causes, including the promotion of communal harmony, rational thinking, corruption-free administration and pollution-free environment.

However, since March 2002, following the Godhra related communal disturbances of Gujarat, Mr Jowher has completely devoted himself to SPRAT, the Society for Promoting Rationality [www.sprat.in], which he co-founded, and of which he is Whole-time Director and President / CEO.
